HANC Membership Meeting - April 2023

HANC's January 10th General Meeting will be a tribute to the recently closed Kezar Gardens/HANC Recycling Center.

As most readers of this website already know, HANC has fought a 2 + year struggle to keep the Gardens and Recycling Center in it's present location on Fredrick Street. That fight came to a close on Jan 3rd when we officially gave up possession of the site.

Invited participants for the evening include:

  • Ed Dunn who will discuss the implications of the closure on the recycling programs in the City.
  • Filmmaker Soumyaa Kapil Behrens showing excerpts from her film project on the Center and the fight to save it.

In addition we hope to have representatives from the Dept of the Environment and the Small Business community to address the issues facing them with the closure of the Center.

Starting in the early 1970s, the HANC Recycling Center lead the way toward a more ecological way of thinking and acting on the part of the citizens of San Francisco. We want to invite the employees, supporters and users of the Center who made that change happen to come and share your stories and memories of the Center at this tribute. The HANC Recycling Center is one of the great shining examples of what a community can do when it sets out to change the world for the better.  January's meeting will discuss ways we can build on that example.  Plan to be there, Thursday, January 10th, beginning at 7 pm, Park Branch Library, 1833 Page Street.

Hear from the Board of Directors on a variety of issues, announcements and activities.
