HANC's monthly (except August) general membership meeting is usually held downstairs at the Park Branch Library, 1833 Page Street (between Cole and Shrader) on the second Thursday of the month, beginning at 7 pm. Our meetinngs are open to the public and free to attend.
As you probably know, Taking It To the Streets provides housing and other services to transitional-age youth (ages 18 to 27) who are ready to get off the streets. In exchange, the youth help clean the neighborhood with trash pickup, street sweeping and graffiti abatement. You have probably seen them wearing vests and carrying orange trash bags.
As reported in Hoodline (http://hoodline.com/2018/01/taking-it-to-the-streets-secures-upper-haight-office-space), Taking It To the Streets recently obtained temporary office space on Haight Street. At our February meeting, Christian Calinksy, co-founder and Executive Director of Taking It To the Streets, will explain how the office space will be used, and update us on what else is happening with Taking It to the Streets.
Meantime, you can find out more at their website (http://www.takingittothestreetssf.org/) or Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/takingittothestreetssf).
Meet the New Captain
We will try, once again, to introduce Park Station Police Captain Una Bailey. We expected her at our January meeting, but she had to instead attend to one of her officers who had been seriously injured. She had been unable to attend our December meeting as well. We hope the third time’s a charm. Park Station’s website, with a link to subscribe to the Park Station Newsletters, can be found at http://sanfranciscopolice.org/park-station .
What Needs to Be Done?
We also want to know what neighborhood issues are important to you. If we have time after hearing from our guests, we will ask those present at the meeting what issues HANC should address in the coming year. You can also always send us your ideas and concerns by email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
Please join us on Thursday, February 8, at 7:00 pm at the Park Branch Library (1833 Page Street), for information you won’t find anywhere else. Bring a friend.
