At our November general meeting we will be discussing the erosion of civil liberties and the shrinking of democratic engagement with San Francisco communities. We have seen public input ignored in decisions such as the move of the Civic Center Farmers’ Market, limitations on remote call-in to public meetings, and streamlining attempts to do away with conditional use hearings, appeals and neighborhood controls. The redistricting fiasco and decision making by the Mayor and her departments (Rec & Park, SFPD, Planning, SFMTA, and MOHCD) are further examples of attempts to diminish the public’s voice.
We will be joined at our meeting by Tim Redmond and John Avalos for further insight on this topic. Board Member Bruce Wolfe will discuss the impacts of the recent changes to public comment.
Because we require an in-person vote for the amendments to our Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws, this will be an in-person only meeting. For those that cannot make it to an in-person meeting, we plan to post a video recording of the meeting on our website. Please join us at 7:00 pm on November 9 at Flywheel, 672 Stanyan Street.
