Early voting for the November election begins in City Hall on October 5. Voting at City Hall will be open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm (except for the October 12 holiday), 10 am to 4 pm on the weekend before Election Day (November 3), and 7 am to 8 pm on Election Day. October 5 is also the approximate date when vote-by-mail ballots will begin to be mailed. Mail-in ballots can be returned through Election Day, November 3, but we suggest returning ballots sooner, preferably at one of the drop box locations. The Haight-Ashbury drop box location is in front of the Park Branch Library. A map showing the location of other drop boxes can be found at https://www.google.com/maps/d/u/1/viewer?mid=1LiRzGpYK1HVoJ1yB7lV_WzmPQ1I3yWg&ll=37.75034430815186%2C-122.46331686821289&z=13. Ballots can also be mailed through the US Postal Service, although rules for mail-in ballots seem to be in flux. And, of course, you can vote in-person or drop off your mailed ballot at any polling place on Election Day (although if you vote in-person at a polling place other than the one assigned to you, you will be given a provisional ballot). If you do vote early, we recommend tracking your ballot through the Election Department website.
